iPhoto flies

My copy of iLife '06 turned up on Friday, and finally got the chance to play with it today. Mainly, I played with iPhoto.

My, does it fly. Jobs wasn't joking when he said that it was faster than before. The application's major weakness has been addressed.

The full screen editing is really excellent, too. I suspect we're seeing elements of Aperture being incorporated into the basic package. Very impressed.

Oh, and FlickrExport works, which is good.

Does it still use a fixed location for storing the images, or can you select an alternate directory/other drive now (ala iTunes)? That is a big bugbear of mine, given the space limitations on my iBook. If/when I get an iMac that'll be solved, but now I'm forced to dedicate a large chunk of my built-drive to photos (and have to juggle space for other apps) despite having 100 gig free on my LaCie ..
