Apple using zombie focus groups for new product names:
In a disturbing sign, reliable sources indicate that Apple has followed Microsoft's lead in using zombie focus groups to name its products. Their first influence was revealed this week when Steve Jobs announced that the venerable name "PowerBook" had been replaced by the widely despised "MacBook Pro."

Very funny..

Don't get me started on the "focus groups = bad" mentality though (it should be "innappropriate use of focus groups = bad")

I think this is more of a "bad focus group = bad" thing, though. :)

I certainly have no explanation for "MacBook Pro", especially when there isn't a "MacBook".

Maybe. We'll know something strange will be happening if they actually debut a computer and it has the full word "Macintosh" in its name.

That said, "MacBook" by itself isn't terrible at all... I just hate "Pro" anything and find the three punchy syllables of "MacBook Pro" a bit absurd-sounding.
