Well, I'm just back from a few days in Bristol as part of my week off. Just to make things lovely and happy, I was in a car accident last night. I was placed in the position when I had a choice between being hit from behind at high speed, with a significant chance of being spun into the on-coming traffic or hitting someone else from behind at much, much slower speed,

Well, duh.

Nicola, Lorna and I were all fine. The woman in the car in front was shaken but fine, although she should not have been on a fast, rainy dual carriageway 200 miles from home with her complete lack of confidence in driving and an incomplete knowledge of the car. The white van driver who turned the girl's error into a life-threatening situation got away scot-free. Isn't it always the way?

Still, the car was drivable after the accident, if rather unattractive, and because I have comprehensive insurance, it'll only cost me the excess of £100. They're even picking up the car from me and giving me a courtesy car. Hurrah.
