Can anyone out there recommend a really good, fun 2-player co-operative game for the X-Box?

Star Wars lego is supposed to be very good, as is the Fantastic Four game.

Bruce and I always had lots of fun playing Halo in split-screen cooperative mode.

I concur

Not a whole lot of depth in Lego Star Wars, but my lady and I are currently enjoying it as a rental. We've beaten it once, but there's a lot of little stuff to go back and do.

Halo 2, also, helluva lotta fun in co-op mode.

Also worth checking out: Kung-Fu Chaos, an older game, and way underrated.

My friends constantly play the X-Box D&D game but since I don't have an X-Box I have a hard time coming with a personal recommendation. However, they play it a lot and seem to enjoy it a great deal.

The only X-Box game I ever put a lot of time into was Tiger Woods PGA Tour. In fact, I put so much time into it, I started winning Majors with scores like -45. I'm a sports game nerd, but golf games are fun for 2.

Which sort of game are you looking for? Any particular genres to stay away from?

Damn, why didn't I see this?

As has been noted before, Halo and Halo 2 both have terrific co-op modes. Big, blasting fun in general. Timesplitters 2 had a co-op mode and I imagine so would Timesplitters: Future Perfect. Both are much goofier than Halo and to my mind, more fun.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory would be my pick, however. Be warned: It's a bit more complex than the other two, but it's still not that hard to get the hang of. And it's worth it, because the co-op mode is sublime. Two-player splitscreen, with co-operative moves that require you to work together in an effort to get through the levels silently. I usually play over Xbox Live, but it works fine in splitscreen as well. (Which I did with my brother for a while.)
