We were all sick. I commented to Richard at one point "We're all getting old. Five years ago, I'd be at a club dancing and yelling my head off--fever or no fever."

Richard was at least well enough to eat New Years dinner. Poor thing.

Really that should have been check boxes, because I was Par Taying at a nightclub (close enough to bar/pub) with friends.

I did consider that, but I'd decided to see how people prioritised. For example, I was par-taying with friends, but it was primarily a par-tay.

A few years back Lorna and I were at her mothers for New Year, with plans to go to a friend's party for midnight. Then, we all caught stinking colds. By 10.30pm, Lorna and her Mum were fast asleep, and I saw midnight while writing the outline for what became Taking His Name In Vain in Lucifer's Shadow: Tales of Fallen Angels. Oh, happy night.
