A small aside: A close friend of mine works for Kodak and I only have to talk to her for a short while (we both work in market research) get get a handle on where things are going ...
I think there will always be "real" film photographers around for the foreseeable future. Those who will only accept film as a "proper" form of photography.
I was never able to take good pictures with a traditional camera, mainly because you can't see your shot, and also my inability to frame them properly, and work the many buttons and knobs relating to improving the quality of the picture, but now I'm pretty proud of a lot of the photos I take, even if I have to take hundreds to get a "good" one.
I hope film survives, it is an art form and takes skill and experience to make the best of it, but I also hope we never see a divide between the camps. I was interested to see a brief piece of a programme the other day with Lord Litchfield who said he had moved entirely to digital for some years now, despite others telling him it was a mistake.
