"If you're not with us, you're against us" politics - Because nothing stimulates intelligent debate like the politics of the schoolyard, does it?

"Party X is evil and must never be allowed back into power" - Because de facto one party states are what democracy's all about, right?

I always found it to be the thin end of the wedge when such shrill demands were made EU-wide over Jorg Haider....

I am no fan of Austria (there's a very short list of countries I do not like), but the Jörg bashing went a bit far considering many far-right-wing parties have held power in Italy the past decade.

I don't so much mind people speaking against politicians with whom they don't agree, it was when the EU effectively severed diplomatic ties with Austria that it all got a bit sinister.

The message? Elect the 'wrong' politicians and you're effectively out the EU.
