Satirist Karl Kraus once defined a journalist as "someone who, given time, writes worse".

How very right he was.

True. One of the many reasons I dropped out of journalism school to pursue an English Lit degree was because I saw "professional" jounalists ignoring all of the hard rules we were getting hammered into us in school. You would lose a full letter grade if you misspell a word, but the New York Times can say "Get a sneak peak!"
