Stupid things we do...
Nov. 5th, 2002 12:49 pmI should learn, I really should. I love my fiancee deeply and one of the things that I love about her enthusiasm. It's just a shame that her enthusiasm isn't always matched by research.
Take a look at the pictures of the St Mary Redcliffe Pipe Walk. There's some history of the walk here
Note the prevalence of hills, grass and woods on the early part of the walk. Now, when Lorna told me about this traditional walk, I was all for it. It seemed like a really good way of getting to know the congregation of the church we're getting married in better. And so it was. It was really good fun, too, and not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning.
However, Lorna assumed that we would just be following the approximate route of the pipes on pavements and communicated this to me as fact. So, there was I in my street shoes and leather jacket while pretty much everyone else was in waterproofs and hiking boots. Sure enough, the mud did its worse while I was coming down the hill and I met the ground arse first.
Nothing quite like spending a morning with a wet, muddy bum.
