Business: Not my fault, guv
Aug. 27th, 2002 07:41 pmI see the music industry is up to its old tricks. CD sales are down 7% and of course it's the fault of the files sharing services. Oh, but they closed them down, didn't they. Right, so now it's CD burners. Which have, errr, been around for a few years now.
Perhaps, and I know this is a novel idea, there isn't very much music coming out that is so utterly compelling that people _have_ to buy it? Perhaps, just perhaps, the rise of DVDs and computers games is competing for people's spending money?
Perhaps the music industry should do what every other industry does when times are hard: work to build their business and make better product, rather than blaming everyone but themselves?
Heaven forbid.
