A while back, I was thinking of buying space at a colo facility and setting up a streamripper to provide podcasts of RealAudio internet radio streams. A TiVo for internet radio, if you like. Unfortunately, I don't have the cash to do that sort of thing ahead of time and mplayer's a resource-hog when it comes to simultaneous stream processing.
Which is a pity, as it'd do just what you want it to. Maybe I should cost it out again...
