Calendar Girls
Jan. 9th, 2004 05:07 pmI gather from the press here that Calender Girls, has just opened in the US, months after its UK release. The film tells a fictionalised version of the Yorkshire women who posed for a nude calender to raise funds for a hospital. That hospital had cared for one of their husbands during his battle with terminal cancer.
Go and see it, American types. It's great fun, occasionally very moving and very British in its humour. It has its weak points - the plot loses its way for a while towards the end - but the performances and cinematography are exemplary. It's well worth your hard-earned cash, especially as a portion of it goes towards the Leukemia Research Fund.
Oh, and remember that "chips" to us are a fatter version of what you call "fries".
