This weekend we have mainly been trying to put up some new lights in the living room and kitchen. Vintage wiring is making this more exciting that we anticipated.

You have my sympathies. Our house is very much the same way- still with the good old 40's-era cloth-wrapped wires. Lots of fun to work with.

Also, the moron who owned the house before us completely screwed up many of the circuits in the house. Some rooms run on two or even three different breakers. Nearly electrocuted ourselves one year doing some work in the kitchen that way.

Well, we survived, only blowing the fuses on the house once. We live in a Victorian-era house, which has been modernised in unplanned waves, leading to a rather exciting mix of wiring ages. And plumbing ages. And plastering ages.

Oh, I just love DIY.
