Upgrade

I now have my 40Gb 4th Gen iPod. 6037 songs in there so far. Virtually my whole music collection in my pocket. Happy, happy, happy. It's smaller, lighter and just better than my old 5Gb 1st Gen iPod, too. I've fallen in love with the device all over again.

The old one is off to my Mum, incidentally, who bagsied it long before I decided to by the 4th Gen one. At a time when some of my friends are giving up on the idea of their parents ever using computers, I have a Mum who not only wants an IPod, but actively evangelises Macs to others, most recently to her doctor who was complaining that his virus-ridden PC had become useless.

I'm so proud.

£280, but NUJ members get a discount at the Apple Store, so that's cheaper than normal.

You may be pleased to know that even though I'm running Windows XP, I'm using iTunes as my music library of choice at home.

Dunno how / if I'm going to bother burning my CDs to it completely (even with iTunes, its not a quick process) but in terms of managing and burning mix CDs, it's significantly easier and faster.

And last weekend we went down to see koala_elf, feistyredhead's sister. She has one of the widescreen Mac powerbooks, and I did have tech envy. It was lovely.

Yup, I got one of the new iPods for my bday and am happily importing all my music into Windows iTunes. iPod sounds sweet coming through my upstairs stereo. I agree that it completely rules. :-D

By the way, that coolness you have in your LJ posts where there's an iTunes link for the song you're currently listening to, is that something that only Mac OS LJ clients do or what...?

I think the function is unique to xjournal written by fraserspiers. I suspect it could be implemented in other clients on other platforms, but you'd have to ask Fraser. :).
