The weekend so far

I've only had a handful of weekends without Lorna in the nearly eight months since we married. I do miss her while she's away, but it's nice to have a little time for us to each do our own thing. This is one of those weekends, and I've been doing my best to make the most of it.
After a day of housework, desk cleaning and other chores, I spent a very pleasant evening round at Andy's. He's out of hospital, on the mend and in better health than I've seen him in months. He cooked a great bangers'n'mash with red wine onion gravy, and we watched the extended Two Towers on his surround sound set up. I left about 1am, a very relaxed and happy man. The drive back home was quiet, and it was nice to enjoy driving through London's streets when they aren't packed with all manner of cars.
This morning was our church's 156th anniversary service, which I'd completely forgotten about. hence the church was packed with people from its history, all smartly dressed while I was in my usual jeans and shirt. Whoops. Still, it was a great service and it was good to see so much of the church's living history there.
Then it was over to Nicola's (via the supermarket) to set up her Airport link to the broadband they've just had installed. She is now happily surfing the net and catching up on her e-mail from her brand, spanking new eMac.
Now I'm back home for some more chores, and maybe a whisky and a book to wile away the hours until my wife returns. Ah, a very civilised weekend.
