Why is it that, whenever I settle down to write a feature about commercial property, I usually put the Counting Crows version of Big Yellow Taxi on the iPod?

I like their albums - I've got "August and Everything after", "This Desert Life" and "Hard Candy" - but have never seen them live. However, a friend of mine who has done so several times wasn't that impressed either time she saw them which leads me to wonder how much is down to production rather than Adam Duritz and co's musical skills.
