The Parcel People

A while back I posted about the problems I have with Parcelforce's Charlton depot. Well, a Parcelforce driver has deigned to leave a reply.

By ignoring what was written and insulting my wife, he has done little to improve my impression of Parcelforce.

Telling tall tales about the time of delivery or there being "no-one in" seems to be inextricably linked to courier companies.

Examples, in addition to the ubiquitous "customer not home" (when I am), include: "left parcel in garage" (I live on the second floor of an apartment complex, so that's an achievement), "returned after 3rd delivery attempt" (when only 1 card was left) and on a "lost" delivery to my office that they swore *had* been delivered, "parcel signed for at business by xxx yyy" (we have 150 staff, none called xxx or yyy. Fortunately, I was able to track the parcel down by going to the other companies near where I work and finding it at one on the next street over). And then there's the company - who shall remain nameless - who delivered a package 7 weeks after it was given into their care ...

On the flip side, there have been some extremely helpful companies and drivers. When I worked in Nottingham, one driver who delivered to me also delivered to my office and automatically checked to see if I was at home or work before attempting delivery. Others have been really good about re-directing or allowing me to pick-up from their depots.

Those nice Fedex people always leave my parcels with next door, when I'm asleep or out when they call.
