I thought delaying the patch a week was meant to stop us EU types experiencing the same problems they did in the US.

Bah. Humbug.

That was the theory - I guess ther gerbil, marmoset or whatever they use to power the login server had a fit and died. I wonder if having a patch during holidays hasn't helped - there'll probably be more people trying to play than usual.
