(no subject)

London is developing a tradition of May Day Riots. Anti-capitalism protesters take to the streets in great numbers and generally cause a certain amount of trouble. Admittedly, there's some debate as to whose fault it was last year - the police have taken some heavy stick for their behavior last year. Co-incidentally enough, heavy stick is exactly what they were giving the protesters.

Anyway, seeing as my office is right in the heart of the West End where all the trouble is likely to be, my employers have kindly said we can all leave at 3.30pm tomorrow. Colour me concerned...

I'm sure all the anti-capitalist rioters drive there in their Minis and Land Rovers, and go gome to have a nice meal bought from the grocery down the way.

I dare say were I in charge of the police presence, shotguns at close range and hasty reloads would be the order of the day, in the same way you might fumigate a nest of nasty spiders. For the protection of the sapients.

Erm, no.

I'm with zamiel on this one... I saw a car a couple of days ago that had a bumper sticker proclaiming all sorts of nasty anti-corporate and anti-environmental slogans. And it was spewing this foul black smoke into the air. If you're such an environmental nut, why are you driving a broken auto? And then I saw it again, yesterday, and it still wasn't fixed!

Still, sorry to hear you're going to be in the middle of riots tomorrow, or at least heavy and antagonistic crowds. Be safe, adders.

Not to mention rumors of more anti-Semitic violence (of course, they've naturally been vague as well as more directed at the Continent).

In any case, be careful out there, Andrew.
