Roofers Above

The fitting of a new roof is a mysterious process. I'm sitting in my study, trying to get on with some work (filtering PR rubbish from the few interesting gems) and there are Sounds Above. These sounds could be anything, given that the builders seem to grunt at each other in something only vaguely resembling English. For all I know, they could be staking out a non-paying former customer out there, and I would be blissfully ignorant.

(No, the screams wouldn't give it away. This is Lewisham. We just tune out screams.)

To make it worse, I now have no direct access to the roof. The hatch from the loft space to the roof itself is gone, replaced – like the rest of the roof - with blue material. And so, I wait, listen and hope.
